Asymptotic Studies of Solar and Stellar Dynamo Waves


Firstly, we describe main concepts of the mean field dynamo-theory. Then we formulate position of the dynamo wave problem following Parker (1955) ideas. Using analogues between this and quantum mechanics theory we use the semiclassical approach for WKB asymptotic study of traveling dynamo waves. The solution obtained in the framework of the model is compared with observations. We discuss the sources of the magnetic field generation and their observational signatures at the Sun. In addition, we outline prospects of application of this theory not only for the solar but for stellar dynamos.
