Abstract

A particular example of the impact of quantum mechanics on cosmological theory is presented. A new approach to quantum corrections to the gravitational field equations is developed which is equivalent to the introduction of viscosity to space time, and in which the additional energy-stress components are proportional to the time derivatives of the curvature.
