Abstract

It is noted that primordial black holes have become a subject of great interest since the quantum evaporation of low mass black holes was discovered by Hawking (1974, 1975) because only primordial black holes can have such small masses. The paper deals with the problem of primordial black hole formation, as well as matter accretion at the early stages of the Universe and the related process of their mass growth. In addition, emphasis is given to the limits on the possible number of primordial black holes of various masses inferred from astrophysical observations.
