Abstract

A selection of papers on nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, and astrophysics is presented. Papers on uranium fission are of particular note in the field of nuclear energy, while fundamental work on the conservation of vector current in beta decay is of particular importance in elementary particle theory. Zel'dovich's work in relativistic astrophysics is then surveyed. Particular attention is given to the interaction of matter and energy at the early expansion stages of the hot universe; the prediction of primordial black holes; physical processes in the vicinity of black holes; and the formation of the large-scale structure of the universe.
